Pattern Patter

A one month long journey

Posted by: pagesandprint on: November 2, 2010

As I was working the other day with a handful of newly acquired patterns I saw a few in there that looked so familiar so I called my Mom and described them to her and she said oh yes I had that pattern and then she described the fabrics that she had used to make the dresses – It gave me such a sense of nostalgia cause I remembered in the 1960s how sophisticated my Mom and her friends looked when they dressed to have club meetings, or go to church or go to the millions of other social events that seemed so exciting to my 8-9 year old mind. The gloves and the hats, the slips, the stockings, the high heels everything co-ordinated and everything was so “wow” . I looked at myself in the mirror in my best jeans and comfy sweater and I thought I want to buy a sophisticated dress , make plans to meet a few choice girlfriends out for tea and be like the ladies in the 1960s – Just a couple of tiny problems too many chips have passed my lips and my feet scream when they are faced with the prospect of high heels now so I did some research and decided to change maybe just for one month some of my habits that become part of my routine to see if I could raise my energy level (as if a full time job and Pages & Print don’t keep me busy) as well as spruce up so out went the junk food out came my dusty walking game for the Wii and I started looking for that classy lady type of dress – So from November 1 until November 30th I am going to work at this and see if I can look as happy as the women did on those 1960s pattern covers – so carefree ………….. Day 1 gave up eating meat for the duration – tough for me cause nothing says love to me like a ribeye ! My husband is chuckling at the idea that I can do this but I think by golly that I can !
